Damon and Bonnie are finally back in Mystic Falls, or at least a different version of the town they grew up in.

When season five of "The Vampire Diaries" concluded, Damon and Bonnie, played by Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham, were trapped on the Other Side as it was disintegrating, prompting many to speculate that they were trapped in an alternate world parallel to the one they inhabited.

And in a sign that could prove these theories correct, Somerhalder posted on his Instagram account a signboard that clearly shows that he is at Mystic Falls in Virginia. "On set right now-anyone know this place???" he captioned the photograph.

The promo poster of season six too hinted the possibility of an alternate world by showing two Mystic Falls town clock towers in the distance. This means that the duo is close to where their loved ones are, but in a foreign realm.

Earlier, TV Guide's Adam Byrant had teased that the mystery of where Damon and Bonnie are will be revealed at the end of episode two, which is titled "Yellow Ledbetter."

"You'll definitely know before the end of the second episode. But pay close attention: Although the setting may look familiar, the duo is definitely in a place that's foreign to them. Perhaps it's not the where that matters at all!" said, executive producer of the show, Julie Plec.

As per season six spoilers, Elena will turn to Alaric, who has returned as a vampire, to help her move on with her life, and this will have her locking lips with an interesting character.

TVLine's Michael Ausiello noted: "Elena's emotions are all over the place in Season 6 and I have it on good authority that her love life is going to be far from dormant. In fact, I hear she'll be locking lips with a handsome fella in Episode 3 — and his name does not rhyme with Shmamon.

The premiere episode, which is titled "I'll Remember," will air on 2 October at 8pm ET on The CW. The drama stars Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Steven R McQueen, Kat Graham, Candice Accola, Zach Roerig, Michael Trevino and Matt Davis.

The premiere episode can be watched online through CWTV.
