Two militants were killed during an encounter between security forces and militants on Thursday in Hajin area of Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district. 

A search operation was launched by security forces in the area after authorities had received information about terrorists being present in the area, a police official said. 

The officer informed that the search operation soon turned into an encounter after the security forces were fired upon by the militants. The official added that the search operation was still on. "The operation continues. Reinforcements have also been rushed in to tighten the cordon around the militants," he said.

Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid took to his Twitter account and said that two militants were killed while another has been left injured. 

Police officials said that militants fired upon a patrol party of the Indian army and Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday morning. In retaliation, the security forces fired at the militants, triggering a gunfight. 

On Wednesday, two terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in Anantnag's Munward area. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists.
