Protest continues against Aamir Khan's 'PK'

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Dec 28 (ANI): Vishwa Hindu Parishad workers on Sunday protested against Aamir Khan's recently released 'PK' in Mumbai. The protesters alleged that Khan had hurt religious sentiments of Hindu community and demanded ban on the movie. Delhi also witnessed similar protest against the movie wherein protesters tore the movie posters outside the theatres. Meanwhile, Yoga Guru and religious leader Baba Ramdev also slammed the flick and said that the same should be stopped from showcasing in theatres.

Security experts say convergence with US on extradition of Tahawwur Hussain Rana unlikely

New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): Security experts on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would have to find a way to demand extradition of Tahawwur Hussain Rana from the US during President Barack Obama’s visit for Republic Day celebrations. Rana was arrested in Chicago by the FBI on October 18, 2009 for plotting an attack on Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, which ran cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad in 2005, US authorities said in court documents. Security Expert Uday Bhaskar said that it was difficult to expect a convergence between Washington and New Delhi on militancy in relation to Pakistan. Another Security Expert Kamal Mitra Chenoy said Modi would have to find a polite way to convey the demand.

The Brit singer said that technology had made the world a lot smaller and has made relationships a lot easier, as sometimes he even carried his computer on stage, an online portal reported. The 'Candy' singer further said that Skype seemed as a last option for his little Williams family to stay in touch and take them everywhere he wants. Tea plantation workers in Assam return to work after militant attack

Sonitpur, Dec 28 (ANI): Life returned back to normalcy as tea plantation workers in Assam returned to work after at least 80 people were killed by a tribal militant group. Militants fighting for a separate homeland for indigenous Bodo tribesmen went on a killing spree in Assam on Tuesday, killing 80 people in four attacks in the space of an hour, the deadliest violence in months. Hundreds of plantation workers armed with spears and bows and arrows defied a curfew imposed in response to the rebel attacks and surrounded police stations in Sonitpur district, the area worst hit by the militant violence, saying authorities had failed to protect them. Two days since the army took control of the area, the tea plantation workers in Biswanath Chariali town of Sonitpur district are trying to put the attack behind them.

Reactions pour in after IIT-Delhi Director resigns alleging pressure from the government

New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): Reactions poured in on Sunday after Director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD) Raghunath K. Shevgaonkar resigned two years before the completion of his term. According to the media reports, the resignation came due to tremendous pressure from the ministry, which wanted to lend IIT ground to cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for opening a cricket academy. IIT Alumni Association Secretary CK Jain said that it is very unfortunate that government is trying to take IIT under it. IIT Alumni Association former President Subodh Jindal requested the government to take the director’s resignation back. IIT Alumni Association President Ashok Kumar said that the whole IIT Delhi alumni are not happy with his resignation.

IIT Delhi Director resigns alleging govt pressure, politicos condemn

New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): Political leaders condemned resignation of IIT-Delhi Director Raghunath K Shevgaonkar two years before the completion of his term. Accoring to reports, Shevgaonkar submitted his resignation alleging government pressure. He was unhappy with a proposal to set up a cricket academy of campus and, over payment of alleged dues to BJP leader and former IIT faculty Subramanian Swamy. Congress leader JP Aggarwal said that when a big personality like him has tendered his resignation, there would be pressure from government over the same. AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal said that government should avoid interfering with such educational institutions.
