Villagers move to relief camps as shelling intensifies along India-Pakistan border

Kathua, Jan 06 (ANI): Hundreds of villagers living along the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir moved to relief camps after cross-border firing intensified between the two neighbouring countries. Villagers living along the international border are agitated with Pakistan for violating the ceasefire truce time and again. While hundreds of them left their homes with their belongings on tractors towards safer havens, many others walked to the relief camps. Another villager in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, Balwinder Singh said the government should take initiative to end the border disturbances permanently. The villagers, including children and elderly were seen taking refuge at the relief camps that have been set up in government schools.

Politicos welcome US clarification as it denies clean chit and funds to Pakistan

New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday welcomed clarification from US after it denied that it had issued any certification on Pakistan's counter-terrorism efforts and said no fresh request had been sent to Congress for assistance to that country. BJP Spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said that India is quite gratified that US denied giving any clean chit to Pakistan on terrorism. Congress also applauded clarification from US and also went on to say that India has worked for years to strengthen relations with the United States and the present BJP government at the centre should be cautious of not ruining the same.

India should not expect anything favourable: Security Expert as Pak court is to hear Lakvi's bail ca

Bhopal, Jan 06 (ANI): Security Expert Praful Bakshi on Tuesday said that India should not expect anything favourable out of the ongoing case on 26/11 mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi. Bakshi said that India has to remain strong and ready for against its enemy and should not be dependent on US. He also maintained that India can however insist America to stop funding Pakistan by making strong political moves. The Pakistan government's appeal against the bail to Lakhvi will be heard by a court in Islamabad today.
