Hooch Tragedy in Lucknow, at least 7 dead and several hospitalised

Lucknow, Jan 12 (ANI): At least 7 people are reported to be dead and several others injured after Hooch tragedy in Lucknow. SSP of Lucknow Yashasvi Yadav said that at least 7 people were reported to be dead and supposedly the liquor which the victims consumed was poisonous. Meanwhile, IG for Law and Order in Uttar Pradesh, A Satish Ganesh said that the bodies have been sent for post mortem after which the actual cause of death might be known.

John Kerry defends absence from unity rally, will go to Paris on Thursday

Gandhinagar, Jan 12 (ANI): Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat summit on Monday, US secretary of sate John Kerry said that he will travel to Paris this week for talks on countering extremist violence. Kerry will be in France on Thursday and Friday. The announcement of the trip comes as the Obama administration faces sharp criticism for not sending a senior official to Sunday's rally for unity in Paris that was attended by some 40 world leaders and more than a million people.

Politicos and Social Activist react over Sadhvi Prachi's remark, demand action by PM

New Delhi, Jan 12 (ANI): Politicos and social activist on Monday condemned BJP's Sadhvi Prachi for her statement wherein she said that all Hindu women should produce at least four kids and also asked for a law in favour of 'ghar wapsi' programme. Congress leader Manish Tewari questioned if this is what PM's 'Make in India' actually signifies. Congress' PL Punia said that the prime minister should take action in the matter. AAP leader Ashutosh said that this is the real agenda of BJP and that development agenda was just a cover up. Jaitley says govt taking various steps for investment

Assam gears up to welcome harvest festival of Bihu

Guwahati, Jan 12 (ANI): North-eastern state of Assam gears up to celebrate harvest festival, traditionally known in the local language as Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu, falling on January 15. In the run-up to the festival, which is celebrated with great fervour in the state, a non-profit organisation held an exhibition to welcome the festival. Mouthwatering delicacies like ‘pitha’ or pancakes and many other traditional food items, prepared by local women, were up for sale in various stalls at the exhibition. The festival of Bihu marks three distinct phases of the farming calendar for the native crop of the state-paddy. The northeastern state celebrates the festival with great zeal by singing traditional ‘Bihu geets’ or Bihu songs and performing group folk dances.

Centre approves pay scale revision of DASS employees, BJP welcomes while AAP- Congress alleges BJPs

New Delhi, Jan 12 (ANI): Political leaders on Monday react as the central government approved a proposal of Delhi Government to revise the pay scale of Delhi Administration Subordinate Service (DASS) employees. BJP said that the proposal was accepted in order to fulfill the promises BJP did before coming to power. Satish Upadhyay also said that this has nothing to do with the Delhi assembly polls and that opposition is free to draw speculations. Congress leader JP Agarwal alleged that the passing of the proposal comes at the time when Election Commission is to announce the dates for the Delhi polls. AAP also criticized the BJP for the same and said that this won’t affect the votes.
