India beefs up security ahead of US President Obama's visit for Republic Day celebrations

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that security was beefed up across the country ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit to New Delhi for Republic Day celebrations. The central government has placed multi-tier security set up for the high profile visit. Obama will arrive in New Delhi on January 25 to take part in Republic Day celebrations on the invitation of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, the city of Taj Mahal, Agra, is set to become a fortress ahead of Obama's visit on January 27. The Taj Mahal will be closed to visitors on that day.

Manjhi visits clash-hit village, assures action

Muzaffarpur, Jan 21 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi visited a village in Muzaffarpur district on Wednesday and took stock of the situation after communal violence claimed three lives and charred several houses recently. The clash erupted in Azizpur village after a Muslim girl eloped with a Hindu boy from a neighboring village, Bahilwara Mali Tola. On Sunday, body of the boy, who was missing from the past ten days, was found from an agricultural field. After the body was recovered, angry mob rushed to Azizpur village and set houses on fire. Political leaders file nomination papers for Delhi Assembly Polls

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Political leaders from Congress and BJP on Wednesday filed their nomination papers for Delhi Assembly polls. Today is the last day for filing the nomination papers for the polls and the scrutiny of nominations papers would be done on January 22 while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is January 24. Congress leader Ajay Maken filed his papers and said that he is ready for a debate with the AAP and BJP Candidates. Party's Kiran Walia also expressed confidence in the performance of Congress. BJP leader Vijender Gupta also talked about the works he envisions for Delhi and wishes to do for the national capital and his constituency.

Drug Racket Case: Punjab and Harayana HC stays transfer orders of ED official Niranjan Singh

Chandigarh, Jan 21 (ANI): The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday stayed the implementation of transfer orders of Enforcement Directorate (ED) Assistant Director Niranjan Singh who is probing 4000 crore synthetic drug racket case. The decision was taken on the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Lawyer Navikiran Singh. The next hearing of the case is scheduled on February 2. Navikiran Singh said that it was wrong to order transfer of an official during the investigation.

Peshawar, January 20, 2015: While the State of Pakistan's continues to connive with militants to disturb the peace in other countries, it is the common man who continues to suffer a great deal. One month after the gruesome attack on the army public school in Peshawar, the school reopened, the candle light vigils were held and a tough message was sent to militants and its backers within the State of Pakistan. Activists, campaigners and members of the civil society gathered in several cities across Pakistan on Friday (January 16) to mark one month since the deadly attack by Taliban gunmen on the Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar in which over 140 people, including 134 children, were systematically gunned down. In Islamabad, several parliamentarians came out to join a vigil outside Parliament House. In Lahore, around two hundred citizens lit candles in memory of those killed in the school attack.
