Delhi CM-designate Arvind Kejriwal meets Rajnath Singh, demands full statehood for Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 11(ANI): Delhi CM-designate and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday reached Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s residence to meet him and discussed various issues with him. Kejriwal also invited Rajnath for his swearing-in ceremony which is to take place on February 14 at Ramilia Grounds. Party leader Manish Sisodia was also present at the meeting. Kejriwal, who was unanimously elected as the leader of the legislative party yesterday, met Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu earlier in the day. He is also scheduled to meet President Pranab Mukherjee today. Kejriwal's party, AAP, made a clean sweep of the Delhi assembly polls yesterday, winning 67 of the 70 seats on offer and decimated rivals BJP and Congress.

Airport authorities in Chennai protest government's privatisation move

Chennai, Feb 11 (ANI): Hundreds of Airports Authority of India (AAI) employees staged a protest in front of the airport in Chennai on Wednesday (February 11) against central government's attempt to privatise airports across the country. The government has rekindled plans to privatise Airports Authority of India, the state-owned airport operator. Meanwhile, chairman of joint forum of employees union, Saughata Roy, said that workers were totally against the privatisation. Millions of Indians are flying each year in one of the world's fastest growing aviation markets, but the government wants to speed up the process by expanding airports and boosting air connectivity in remote areas. The government plans to develop airports in the cities of Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Jaipur under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Four airports - Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore - have already been privatised.

Politicos react after Patna HC stays election of Nitish Kumar as JD (U)'s party leader

New Delhi/Patna, Feb 11 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Wednesday after the Patna High Court stayed the Janata Dal United's move to elect Nitish Kumar as their leader. Bihar's former Forest Minister and Nitish Kumar's supporter PK Shahi and JD (U) leader Pradeep Kumar said that no stay has been put up by the Patna High Court over Nitish Kumar's elections. Meanwhile, Kumar had earlier in the day reached the national capital to meet President Pranab Mukherjee, and parade 130 supporting MLAs to show that he enjoys a majority in the Bihar Assembly. The MLAs belong to the ruling JD (U), besides some from the RJD, Congress, CPI and Independents. Nitish, who wanted an invitation from Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to form a new government in the state after he was elected the leader of JD (U), had said that a democratic process should be followed in Bihar.

India's aeronautical strength exhibition is set to kick start in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Feb 11 (ANI): India's Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is all set to organize the tenth edition of Aero India air show in Bengaluru city from February 18. The biennial air show and aviation exhibition - Aero India Aerospace Exposition - will see the participation of leading countries including US, Russia, France and UK. The exhibition will have 'Make in India' as its major theme and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Aero India show would highlight examples of technological advancement achieved by India through international cooperation. The aerospace and aviation exhibition will have 'Make in India' as the major theme.

Delhi CM-designate Arvind Kejriwal pays courtesy call on President Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi, Feb 11 (ANI): Delhi CM-designate and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday met President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. AAP leader Manish Sisodia was also present at the meeting. Sisodia said that the meeting was a courtesy call. He added that Kejriwal thanked Mukherjee for his guidance. He further said that the President gifted Kejriwal two books, namely, Constitution of India and Thoughts and reflections. Kejriwal, who was unanimously elected as the leader of the legislative party yesterday, met Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu earlier in the day. Bihar Crisis: With 130 MLAs, Nitish Kumar meets President Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi, Feb 11 (ANI): Former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with 130 supporting MLAs met President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday. Nitish was accompanied by RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and JD (U) Chief Sharad Yadav. The MLAs belonged to the ruling JD (U), besides some from the RJD, Congress, CPI and Independents. Nitish Kumar said that they have told President that they enjoy the majority in the Bihar Assembly. He added that he had appealed to the President to look into the matter immediately since due to delay the environment of Bihar is getting fouled. Nitish, who wanted an invitation from Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to form a new government in the state after he was elected the leader of JD (U), had said that a democratic process should be followed in Bihar.
