The Jamaat in Bangladesh received a setback when Syed Haider Farooq Maudoodi, the son of the founder of the Jamaat-e-Islami, said that the religion-based party should not indulge in politics in Bangladesh as it had opposed the creation of the country out of what was then known as East Pakistan.
