Dhaka, Oct 14 (ANI): Created in 1941 by Maulana Maududi, the Jamaat-e-Islami has a history of committing violence and promoting fundamentalism. The Jamaat, which stood against the independence of Bangladesh, collaborated with the Pakistani Army in its operations against Bengali nationalists, intellectuals and minority Hindus. After 42 years of independence, Bangladesh is still faced with acts of religious fundamentalism primarily perpetrated by the Jamaat-e-Islami. Although the Jammat has been deemed unconstitutional and banned from contesting general elections in 2014, it continues to mark its influence through violent means. The Jamaat in Bangladesh received a setback when Syed Haider Farooq Maudoodi, the son of the founder of the Jamaat-e-Islami, said that the religion-based party should not indulge in politics in Bangladesh as it had opposed the creation of the country out of what was then known as East Pakistan. New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Even as UP government suspended senior IAS officer Sarvesh Chandra Mishra and initiated departmental probe against him over a controversial letter convening a meeting to discuss reconstruction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya on lines of Somnath Temple, senior CPI leader D Raja said that it is a serious issue and the state government should be extra careful in handling such sensitive issues. Earlier, UP government transferred Home Secretary Sarvesh Chandra Mishra and suspended another official, Prem Kumar Pandey over the controversies on a letter asking for "reconstruction" of the Ram temple at Ayodhya.
