2nd chargesheet against Khemka highlights Congress' double standard: BJP

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): The BJP on Thursday assailed the Congress government after a second chargesheet was filed against senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka, who had earlier exposed the land deals done by UPA President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in Haryana. BJP leader Balbir Punj said that the act shows the double standard of the Congress party which had earlier backed another IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal who exposed the sand mafia in Uttar Pradesh.

Empowerment of people possible through expansion of internet: Kapil Sibal

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): While addressing the mediapersons, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal on Thursday talked about the power of internet and said that the empowerment of people can only be made possible through the expansion of internet. He further said that in order to bring transparency in the system, internet is an important factor. Talking about the recent disaster in Odisha, Sibal said that it is through internet and mobile phones that such a major evacuation was made possible and helped save many lives.

Election commission issues notice to Kailash Vijayvargiya for violating code of conduct

Indore, Oct 17 (ANI): The Election commission issued a show-cause notice to Madhya Pradesh Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya for violating the model code of conduct by distributing cash to people during a function. The district collector, Indore, Akash Tripathi, said that the Election Commission has asked Vijayvargiya to reply by October 18. While defending himself, Vijayvargiya, said that he would work in accordance with the norms of the election commission.

Gurgaon: armed men assault toll booth staff, flee with cash

Gurgaon, Oct 17 (ANI): A group of men allegedly armed with chains, iron rods and hockey sticks assaulted Delhi-Gurgaon expressway toll staff and looted Rs 1.85 lakh. The whole incident was caught on a CCTV camera, installed on the Gurgaon-Pataudi Road. The men came in a black Scorpio with a red beacon light, beat up the toll plaza staff, grabbed the cash and fled. The police have registered an FIR in the case, however no arrest has been made as yet.
