New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) patriarch LK Advani will address rallies in poll-bound Chhattisgarh today. According to reports, the Prime Minister will address a rally in Raipur to encourage voters to back Congress Chief Ministerial candidate Ajit Jogi. Advani will be addressing people in Kasdol, Bilaspur and Bhatapara today for the second phase.

At least 100 dead in typhoon Haiyan

Philippines, Nov 09 (ANI): Typhoon Haiyan, possibly the strongest storm ever to hit land, was barrelling out of the Philippines on Saturday after it flattened houses, triggered landslides and floods and knocked out power and communications across a number of islands. In the central Philippines, nearly all houses in Tacloban in Leyte province with a population of about 220,000, were toppled and casualties were feared to be massive, a disaster official said. At least 100 people may have died from the impact of super typhoon Haiyan, a senior government official said on Saturday.

PM's visit to Sri Lanka for CHOGM unlikely, CPI says will affect relations

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is most unlikely to visit Sri Lanka for Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM), CPI leader Atul Anjan said that the cancelation of the visit will adversely affect relations between the two countries. He also said that such actions are not possible for all times as India can't break relations with every country wherein Indians are ill-treated.
