Goa CM Manohar Parrikar on Tarun Tejpal case

Panaji, Nov 21 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said that a preliminary investigation has already been ordered over the allegation of sexual assault against Tehelka's founder-editor Tarun Tejpal. Parrikar, however, added that a full scale investigation and proper action could be taken once the victim registers a case against Tejpal.

Congress workers lathicharged in UP for staging protest

Lucknow, Nov 21 (ANI): The police lathicharged the Congress workers outside UP Vidhan Sabha for staging statewide agitation on Tuesday. The Congress workers launched a statewide protest against the ruling Samajwadi Party for failing to implement the Food Security Act in the state. The agitation is led by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) chief Nirmal Khatri at Laxman Park in Lucknow. Earlier, the party started a door-to-door campaign informing the people of the benefits of the Food Security Act and exposed the state government of its anti-poor stand.

Bangalore Police circulates new ATM guidelines

Bangalore, Nov 21 (ANI): Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar on Thursday announced new guidelines fro the ATMs in order to beef up the security system of the same. Auradkar said that these guidelines are to be adhered by all the banks till 24th November, or else the transactions from the banks will not be allowed. He said that this is not a circular but an order under section 144.

Congress will sweep UP elections against 'Hitler' and 'Mussolini': Beni Prasad

New Delhi, Nov 21 (ANI): Congress leader Beni Prasad Verma on Tuesday termed Narendra Modi as 'Hitler' and SP government in UP as 'Mussolini' and said that Congress will sweep UP elections against the two powers. Verma said that Modi who has dominated the whole BJP, is on the verge of running a totalitarian government. Further, Verma said that Congress will bag majority in UP, while BJP will remain stagnant on its position and that Samajwadi Party will have negative results.

Politicos demand strong action against Tarun Tejpal

New Delhi, Nov 21 (ANI): Sexual assault allegation against Tarun Tejpal, Editor in-chief of Tehelka magazine has shocked the political fraternity. Terming it as an unfortunate incident, Congress leader Shobha Oza said that no one is bigger than the law. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani also reacted strongly to Tejpal's misconduct. Aam Aadmi Party member Shazia Ilmi, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar too condemned the incident.

BJP slams Congress for levelling false charges against Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Bhopal, Nov 21 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday slammed Congress for levelling false charges of corruption against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. BJP's senior leader, Arun Jaitley while addressing a news conference in Bhopal said that Chouhan would be the first one to take action if the charges were established. Praising Chouhan, Jaitley hailed the party's performance in the province. During the conference, Jaitley pinned hopes on his party and said that they would sweep through the elections.

Cyclone Helen to hit coastal southern India: IMD

Vishakhapatnam, Nov 21 (ANI): The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) predicts a severe cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours (November 22) with strong winds, heavy rainfall and big tides already lashing along the coastal Andhra Pradesh. Duty officer, Krishna Bhagavan at the cyclone warning centre of the IMD gave the weather forecast. Fishing operations have been completely suspended due to the sea condition that is expected to get rough. A fisherman named Rama Rao explained how the situation has been so far due to the cyclone Helen that is picking up pace.

New Delhi, Nov 21 (ANI): Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde on Thursday lauded security forces for combating Maoists in rebel infested Chhattisgarh. Speaking at a conference attended by top brass of police in New Delhi on Thursday, Shinde said with the efforts of security forces Maoist activities have been curbed to a large extent in the state. Shinde also said though the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir was challenging, but the security forces were fighting hard to curb cross-border militancy.
