Shoma resigned due to fear of arrest: Nirmala Samant

Tejpal terribly wrong in saying BJP is prejudiced against him: N Ram

Chennai, Nov 28 (ANI): Veteran journalist and former editor of ‘The Hindu’ newspaper, N Ram, on Thursday condemned the sexual assault incident involving Tehelka magazine editor in chief Tarun Tejpal, and said that the latter is terribly wrong in saying the BJP is prejudiced against him. He also hit out at managing editor Shoma Chaudhury who resigned from her post on Thursday.

Shoma Chaudhury quits Tehelka

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): Managing editor of Tehelka, Shoma Chaudhury has reportedly resigned from her post in the organization. Chaudhury reportedly wrote a letter to the management of the magazine and the staff on Thursday announcing her resignation. In her resignation letter, Chaudhury has written that she did not want questions raised about her honesty affecting the magazine. Chaudhury also said that she believed she had acted in instant outrage and in solidarity with the journalist who had suffered sexual assault.

Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh kills four security officials

Chhattisgarh, Nov 28 (ANI): At least four paramilitary officials of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed in an ambush by Maoists in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. A road opening party (ROP) of the CRPF was on its way to a village for a civic action programme, when an improvised explosive device (IED) attack took place. The explosion was followed by indiscriminate firing by the Maoists and later a gun battle between both sides. Director General of Police, Ramniwas said that the deceased belonged to 168 battalion of CRPF.

Allahabad, Nov 28 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Siddharth Nath Singh on Thursday said Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury's resignation has come late and added that she should have resigned long time back. He further claimed that Tehelka is a mouthpiece of Congress. Chaudhury has resigned amid unabated criticism for the way she handled a young journalist's complaint that the magazine's founder Tarun Tejpal had molested her in a Goa hotel earlier this month.
