Congress welcomes Cabinet's approval to probe Gujarat snooping row

New Delhi, Dec 26 (ANI): The Union Cabinet on Thursday gave its nod for setting up of an inquiry commission to investigate the allegations that Gujarat government illegally spied on a woman on the orders of chief minister Narendra Modi's close aide Amit Shah. Congress leaders Gurudas Kamat and Digvijaya Singh congratulated the UPA Government and said this should have happened earlier as it was an open violation of Indian Telegraph Act and the IT Act. They also hoped that the panel gives the report at the earliest.

Karnataka MLAs' foreign junket: Nothing wrong, MLAs of drought hit area not coming

Bangalore, Dec 26 (ANI): As a planned tour of MLAs from Karnataka amidst drought in parts of the state has come under criticism from politicos, Karnataka Congress MLA Malikayya Guttedar said that there is nothing wrong wit the same and that the MLAs from drought hit areas are not accompanying them in the 'study tour'. The estimated reports suggest that at least 15 lakh rupees will be invested in each MLA, which Guttedar refuted and said that not more than 7 lakh are getting invested per person. He also said that the itinerary out in media is false and has been not finalized yet.

Court to decide on Zakia Jafris case, JD (U) hopeful for positive verdict

New Delhi, Dec 26 (ANI): As a court in Ahmedabad is likely to deliver its verdict on Thursday on Zakia Jafri's protest petition against clean chit to Narendra Modi in the Gulbarg Society massacre case, JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said that the party is hopeful that the verdict will bring happiness to many people. He said that Modi has failed to control the riot situation in Gujarat and the verdict will be against him. Further, BJP leader Kirti Azad said that nothing can be proved against Modi and that he will come out clean, like Amit Shah who was exonerated in the Ishrat Jahan case.
