Intense cold wave sweeps northern India, paralyses normal life

Kanpur / Shimla, Jan 07 (ANI): Intense cold wave coupled with dense fog continued to paralyse normal life in northern India on Tuesday, disrupting, flight and train operations. A blanket of thick fog over northern India hit rail traffic with dozens of trains running behind schedule or cancelled. The visibility dropped below 100 metres. People were seen sitting around bonfires on pavements in Kanpur. Meanwhile, the mercury dropped to freezing point in Shimla, leading to formation of frost on plants. The meteorological department of India informed that a strong western disturbance is coming towards north-western part which will result in heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh on January 08. Nobody denying enquiry: Shinde on Adarsh scam report

Diu/ New Delhi/Mumbai, Jan 07 (ANI): Home Affairs Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde defended the ruling Congress party in the Adarsh Housing Scam inquiry report, which indicted four former state chiefs and slammed political parties for politicising the issue. Earlier, Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi demanded that the Maharashtra government reconsider its decision of rejecting the Adarsh Housing Scam inquiry report. Shinde, who was on a tour to Diu on Monday said his party has always cooperated in investigating the scam.
