Instead of Varanasi, Modi should have contested against Rahul from Amethi: Mayawati

Lucknow, April 25 (ANI): BSP Supremo Mayawati on Friday said that BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi should be contesting against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi from Amethi. She further added that while the Congress has put Rahul in front indirectly as the PM candidate, the BJP's Narendra Modi is fighting the battle for prime ministership, therefore both should be fighting against each other.

Priyanka Gandhi slams Modi over 'ABCD and RSVP remark'

Raebareli, April 25 (ANI): While addressing a public rally in Raebareli, Priyanka Gandhi lashed out at Narendra Modi over his 'ABCD and RSVP remark' and said that when you address people, you should talk about what you did for them rather than teaching English alphabets. She said that Modi should tell about the condition of women and farmers in Gujarat, rather than being a school principal. Gandhi said that the common man is wise enough to get such things and later appealed the people to cast their vote for the nation.

BJP condemns Congress' Muslim quota promise

New Delhi/Lucknow, April 25 (ANI): BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Tarun Vijay condemned Congress' additional manifesto in which the Party promised OBC quota to Muslims. BJP Vice President Naqvi stated that Congress is using the old trick to attract Muslim voters. Vijay said that Congress will be attacking on Dalits by providing quota to Muslims.

Congress is misleading Muslims: Mayawati

Lucknow, April 25 (ANI): BSP chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Friday targeted the Congress party over its additional manifesto promising quota for Muslims hailing from other backward classes (OBC). In an attempt to outreach the minority community, the Congress has come forward with its additional manifesto in the middle of the ongoing General Elections, which talks about empowerment of minorities. The party has promised that it will work towards earmarking a quota of 4.5 percent for backward Muslims in the existing OBC reservations. Mayawati slammed the Congress and said that the party is misleading the Muslims.

Congress' manifesto promising Muslim quota invites mixed reactions

New Delhi/ Lucknow/ Kanpur, April 25 (ANI): The ruling Congress Party's additional manifesto promising OBC quota for Muslims has invited mixed reactions from various political and non-political leaders. Congress leader Meem Afzal clarified it as a promising fact of the party which will be fulfilled. Former SP leader Kamal Farooqui stated that Congress should have done it earlier during its tenure. Rajya Sabha MP Mohd Adeeb stated that he would support Congress if it succeeds in fulfilling this promise. Meanwhile, VHP leader Prakash Sharma attacked the Congress Party for using 'reservation' play card for its personal benefits. Muslim Cleric Mufti Mukarram said that if Congress wants to provide quota to Muslims it should first give it under Article 341.

Giriraj Singh granted anticipatory bail in hate speech case

Patna, April 25 (ANI): BJP leader Giriraj Singh was granted anticipatory bail on Friday by a Patna court for his alleged hate speech during election campaign. Singh had ealrier said during an election meeting in Jharkhand's Deoghar district, that those who opposed Narendra Modi should go to Pakistan. The lawyer said that the Election Commissioner had filed three points that the BJP leader has violated, but the statements has no reference to any of it- caste, religion and class.

Rajiv Gandhi assassination: SC refers case to Constitution Bench, Politicos welcome move

New Delhi, April 25 (ANI): Politicos welcome the Supreme Court's decision to refer the case of release of Rajiv Gandhi's assassins to a Constitution bench. The bench will decide whether the Centre or the Tamil Nadu government had the authority to release the seven convicts in the case after remission of their jail terms, within three months. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy welcoming the decision said that the convicts can get only one relief which they have got already. Further, CPI leader D Raja also welcomed the SC's decision on the basis of the division of power in between the centre and the state.
