Hope situation in Assam comes under control, security deployed: BPF

Guwahati, May 03 (ANI): Reacting on killings in Kokrajhar and other districts of Assam by the suspected Bodo militants, Bodo People Front (BPF) MP Biswajit Daimary on Saturday said that the incident is unfortunate and hoped that the situation comes under control soon. He said that security alert is issued and measures are taken to control the killings. Daimary also said that BPF had contributed in such situations. He also hoped that the social culprits are punished irrespective of their caste and community.

BJP questions Congress move to appoint judge to probe Snoopgate

New Delhi, May 03 (ANI): In a hard hitting attack on the Congress after union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde announced the appointment of a judge to probe the Snoopgate scandal involving chief of Gujarat and BJP's prime ministerial frontrunner Narendra Modi, BJP alleged that the Congress is desperate to culminate its five month long search for a judge to decide the case. Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley was addressing a news conference in New Delhi when he hit out at Congress for trying to rush into finding a judge to probe into the Snoopgate scandal just as its term is coming to an end. Meanwhile questioning Congress's intentions further, Jaitley said the party had already accepted its defeat.

Similar explosives used in Patna and Chennai blasts: CID

Chennai/Bangalore, May 03 (ANI): Police released the video footage of a suspect in the twin bomb blast on the Bangalore-Guwahati train in Chennai that killed a woman and left many injured. Explosive devices concealed under seats went off in two coaches shortly after the train stopped at Chennai central station at about 7:00 AM. Inspector General of Crime Investigation Department of India, Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, addressed a news conference and said there were similarities between the twin blasts in Chennai and the serial blasts in Patna city which targeted Modi's rally. Agarwal also released a video footage captured by the CCTV which shows a bald man running in haste whose movement was suspicious.

Pak observes 'mourning day' as families of deceased MQM workers perform last rites

Karachi, May 03 (ANI): Pakistan's biggest city Karachi came to a standstill on Friday after Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) called for a day of mourning after four bodies were recovered from the city three days earlier were identified as those of its activists. MQM said all four workers were picked up on April 13 by the law-enforcement personnel from Gulshan-e-Maymar area in the city. The paramilitary Rangers and police, who are currently conducting a joint operation in Karachi against the criminals, deny the allegations. Meanwhile, more than two thousand party activists, supporters and relatives of the victims offered funeral prayers for two of the slain workers of MQM. The other two were buried on Thursday night. The MQM which represents Urdu speakers, is the second largest party in Sindh and dominates the country's financial capital Karachi.

Imran Khan Announces Complete Boycott of Geo Network and Jang Group

Islamabad, May 03 (ANI): Pakistan's cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan announced that he and his party would boycott Geo and Jang Media Group over what he said was the media group's "role in rigging" during the national elections held last May. Khan said neither he nor any member of his party would appear on Geo TV until they receive an apology. He said Geo was responsible for airing a victory speech of Nawaz Sharif at a time when the election results had not been fully counted. Khan , who is Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said his party had issued a white paper in which it has revealed instances of rigging that had come to light after the party's investigations.

BJP set to win record number of seats: Advani

Pithoragarh, May 03 (ANI): Senior BJP leader LK Advani said he was confident of more than 272 seats for the party in the general elections, the results of which are within a fortnight from now. Advani was addressing the media after a public meeting in Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. Holding a show of strength, Advani wooed voters during a rally in Pithoragarh where he reportedly advocated for the US styled public debate between the main competing candidates in the general election. He said that democracy would have strengthened had this system been adopted since the very first elections.
