Bengaluru MG Road stalking case: Police arrests 6 accused

Bengaluru, Nov 25 (ANI): Bengaluru Police has arrested all six accused in the MG Road women stalking case on Tuesday. Bengaluru Police Commissioner MN Reddi said that the police acted on a tipoff and within 48 hours of registration of complaint by one of the five women, all accused have been arrested. He added that the individuals have confessed their crime and further investigations are going on. On Saturday, the five women, who were returning from an ice cream parlour, were harassed by a group of men on Bengaluru's MG road. As they stopped their car near an ice cream parlour some unidentified men tried to open the doors of their vehicle and left only after the women started making a noise and shouted for help.

Nepal gears up to welcome world leaders to SAARC summit

Kathmandu, Nov 25 (ANI): Nepal's capital Kathmandu is getting ready to host the 18th summit of leaders from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Foreign Secretaries of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Maldives are setting the agenda for the summit due to be held on November 26 and 27.The preparations for summit are in full swing in Nepal as the authorities have heightened the security for the two-day event where leaders from eight nations will meet and discuss the core issues of importance. As last stage preparations are being carried out, even artisans are busy giving final touches to earthen pots that will adorn the venue to welcome leaders at the meet. Nepal has two limousines and has rented six bullet-proof cars from India for the visiting leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Nepal on 25th in the afternoon and return late in the evening of 27th November. Meanwhile, a resident of Kathmandu, Vishnu Harikaki said it is a moment of pride for the people of Nepal as the summit would take place in their nation for the first time.

Kathak danseuse Sitara Devi passes away after prolonged illness

Mumbai, Nov 25 (ANI): Eminent Kathak danseuse Sitara Devi died early Tuesday following prolonged illness. She was 94. Sitara Devi was on ventilator and her condition was serious while she was admitted to the Jaslok Hospital, said her son-in-law. Sitara Devi became a Kathak legend and is known as a pioneering force in bringing the genre to Bollywood. She is the recipient of prestigious awards like Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Padma Shri and Kalidas Samman. Sitara Devi was born in the family of Brahmin 'kathakar' Sukhdev Maharaj in Kolkata in 1920. When she turned 11, the family moved to Mumbai, where she impressed Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore with a three-hour solo recital. The funeral of eminent Kathak legend will take place Thursday morning. She is survived by a son and a daughter. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled on the loss. The PMO tweeted, "PM has condoled the passing away of noted Kathak dancer Sitara Devi. PM also recalled her rich contribution to Kathak."

TMC leader Sukhendu Sekhar said that Narendra Modi government promised to bring back black money in 100 days. Almost 200 days are over but the black money has still not come, the government must give an answer. Opposition targets govt on black money in Parliament

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): A united Opposition is creating trouble to the BJP-led NDA government in parliament over the black money issue on Tuesday. TMC MPs earlier in the morning staged a protest outside Parliament demanding the suspension of the Question Hour in Rajya Sabha for a comprehensive debate on the black money issue. Congress leader Malliarjun Kharge said that several issues are to be discussed in Parliament like black money, help for AP, JandK, dismantling of Planning Commission. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 pm following Opposition protests.

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): After BJP Parliamentary meet, Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that the government is ready to discuss varied issues and concerns of all the parties. Talking about the protest staged by TMC party workers outside the Parliament, Rudy assured the party that the central government is working on the black money issue and have completed the ground work. He said that the centre has also formed SIT and the evidence worldwide has been put in proper form to investigate on the case. Foreign ministers attend SAARC meet in Nepal

Kathmandu, Nov 25 (ANI): Foreign ministers of eight South Asian nations attended the 36th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Council of Ministers meet in Nepal on Tuesday. India's Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj was in attendance with Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh. First phase of JandK assembly polls begin on Tuesday

Jammu and Kashmir, Nov 25 (ANI): The polling for the first phase in the Assembly Elections of Jammu and Kashmir began on Tuesday as people queued outside polling booths to caste their votes. About 400 companies of security forces have been deployed to ensure free and fair polls in the first phase of the assembly elections. Residents lined up outside the polling booths to exercise their franchise fighting the extreme cold weather as they hoped for better governance in the state. Of the 15 Assembly seats going to polls on Tuesday, 11 segments of Chenab valley and North Kashmir were highly militancy infested areas and some of them still have militant influx. A total of 10,502,50 voters, including 5,00,539 women, will decide the fate of 12 sitting MLAs, including seven ministers among 123 candidates at 1,900 polling stations in 15 constituencies.
