Gujarat celebrates Navaratri with Garba dance festival

Vadodara, Oct 08 (ANI): On the occasion of the ongoing nine-day long Hindu festival of Navaratri, enthusiastic dancers from various states visited Vadodara to participate in the Garba, the traditional dance form that represents the mixed culture and heritage of the country. ‘Garba’, the typical dance form which originated from Gujarat, is performed around a centrally lit lamp or a statue of Goddess Durga. The progress of the dance is in concentric circular pattern. The occasion also witnessed native folk singers and dancers performing the traditional music for ‘Garba’, playing traditional drums and instruments.

Besharam slips at the box office!

New Delhi, Oct 08 (ANI): Even after doing a fair trade on the first day of its release, Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Besharam’ is slipping at the box office. Trade experts say that the movie had a good opening, but couldn't retain the footfalls on the subsequent days.The film, which released Wednesday, hit 3,600 screens in India and 700 screens overseas. Critics were not too impressed with the movie and wrote that "with Besharam, Ranbir sinks to a low". Trade analyst Taran Adarsh termed the film’s box office collection as an "epic disappointment". "Besharam earned Rs 21.56 crore on Wednesday, Rs 7.13 crore on Thursday, Rs 5.68 crore on Friday and Rs 5.94 crore on Saturday. Total is Rs 40.31 crore net. Epic disappointment!" tweeted Taran Adarsh.

Afghan students perform cultural dance at youth festival

Chandigarh, Oct 7 (ANI): Afghan students hit the Indian stage walking the ramp in their traditional clothes and performing various dance forms of Afghan origin. Eighth International Youth Peace Festival organized in Chandigarh city of India's northern Punjab state was dazzled by the blend of traditional varieties from all over the world. Students from various countries walked the ramp in their traditional clothes but Afghans were the show stealers as they not only spread the magic on ramp but also set the stage on fire with their traditional dance forms. Through their performances the Afghan students demoed their way of celebrating special occasions in their country.
