Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL), a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan is geared up for the launch of a special edition of its 125cc scooter the Access in India. The company will launch the Access special edition on Sept.9.

While the company has not revealed any details about the upcoming special edition of the model, the update is likely to be purely cosmetic. The company might be looking to boost the sales of the scooters with the new edition and it is expected to have new body graphics and colours on the palette. The power in the new Access 125 special edition is likely to come from the same 124 cc four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which can pump out a power of 8.58bhp at 7,000rpm and a peak torque of 9.8Nm at 5,000rpm.

The current Access 125 with SEP technology was launched in the country in March after its debut at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. It has been priced at Rs. 53,887 (ex showroom, Delhi). The Access 125 had undergone thorough changes in its mid-life facelift avatar. It is now offered in five colour options -- Grey, black, Red, White and Blue -- and measures 1,780mm in length, 650mm in width, and 1,125mm in height. The Access 125 gets a wheelbase of 1,250mm.

The Access 125 competes with the Honda Activa 125, Honda Aviator and Mahindra Rodeo RZ in the Indian two-wheeler market.

Meanwhile, Suzuki on Monday, Sept.5 launched the special edition of Gixxer and Gixxer SF models in India. Dubbed as Gixxer SP, the naked version has been priced at Rs. 80,726, while the special edition of the fully faired SF version gets a price tag of Rs. 88,857, ex-showroom Delhi.
