Salman Khan Dialgoues
Sultan

Salman Khan's Sultan has opened to an average response at the Chinese box office and failed to show big growth on Saturday. The film has failed to beat the collection records of Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan was released in China months after it hit screens in other parts of the globe. The movie became a blockbuster success at the Chinese box office. After seeing its response, the makers of Sultan decided to release it in the country and booked almost double the number of shows. The movie was expected to be a bigger opener than the previous film.

But Sultan opened to poor response and collected $940,000 at the Chinese box office on the first day. Despite having a double screen count, its collection was not even half of Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Sultan - Salman Khan's second film and Yash Raj's first to release in China - does not live up to the monumental expectations... Has a disappointing Day 1 in China... Fri $ 940,000 [₹ 6.66 cr] / 36,474 showings #BajrangiBhaijaan collected $ 2.25 mn [19,892 showings] on Day 1."

Trade experts had predicted that the word of mouth would boost its collection on the following days, but it did not as it struggled to show some improvement. Sultan collected $1.09 million at the Chinese box office on Saturday, taking its two-day total collection to $2.03 million (Rs 14.38 crore gross).

Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Sultan continues to struggle... Witnesses limited growth on Day 2 in China, but with a low starting point, the growth should've been threefold or thereabouts... Let's see what Day 3 [Sun] has in store... Fri $ 940,000 Sat $ 1.09 mn Total: $ 2.03 mn [₹ 14.38 cr]."

Earlier, the Salman Khan starrer had collected Rs 421 crore in the domestic market and Rs 168 crore gross in the overseas market. Its total collection stood at Rs 589 crore gross. Now, its business in China (Rs 14 crore) has taken its total beyond the magical Rs 600 crore mark worldwide. Its total stands at Rs 603 crore gross.
