A high-level security alert was sounded on Thursday afternoon after stones were hurled at the Vande Bharat Express (22489) near Kauda while Mohan Bhagwat was on board.
The incident occurred around 3:20 pm when the train was en route to Delhi. Railway sources said a stone hit the window of coach C4, leaving a visible crack in the glass. No passengers, including Bhagwat, were injured, and the train proceeded to Meerut without delay.
Preliminary investigations by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police suggest the act may not have been targeted. Circle Officer Ankit Mishra said initial findings indicate that a group of children aged 8 to 13 were playing cricket near the tracks, and stones may have accidentally struck the train. However, officials are exploring all possibilities.
