Skoda Superb Sportline to be launched in India soon; all you need to know

Czech carmaker Skoda Auto is all set to launch a sporty version of the Superb sedan in India. Christened as Superb Sportline, Skoda India website has already listed the vehicle on the website and launch is expected anytime soon.

Skoda Superb Sportline is a sporty looking sedan while it is not as a sporty sedan as RS models of the company. It is a pure cosmetic job along with some fun-to-drive additions in the international markets and hence India-spec model is also expected follow the same pattern.

On the exterior, the Skoda Superb Sportline gets glossy black treatment at front grille, window frames, ORVM caps, side strips, rear bumper and integrated spoiler at the rear. The sporty theme of the sedan further accentuated with 18- (anthracite) or 19-inch (burnished black) alloy wheels. In order to supplement spirited driving, Skoda has lowered suspension of Superb Sportline by 15mm.

On the inside, Superb SportLine gets leather three-spoke sports steering wheel and gear knob, sport seats with exclusive seat covers, aluminium-look pedals and carbon-style trim. The European-spec Sportline also boasts off an electronic differential lock and enhanced XDS+ function, and Driving Mode Select. Adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) is available as an optional extra. Whether these additions will be part of India-spec remains to be seen.

There will be no changes to the powertrain. Skoda India currently sells the Superb with a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine tuned to develop 175bhp mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox or an option of 177bhp with a 6-speed manual.

While the diesel offering is a 2.0-litre TDI engine that churns out 175bhp and only comes with a 6-speed DSG transmission. The Sportline will carry over the same configurations.

The launch of Superb Sportline is going to happen just weeks after Skoda India introduced Superb Corporate Edition at Rs 23.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Corporate Edition is currently being offered only to existing Skoda and Volkswagen car owners and is priced around Rs 2.1 lakh cheaper than the base Style variant.

The Superb Corporate Edition offers pretty much everything the Style variant offers. The car is offered only in Candy White colour option.
