Sonam Raghuvanshi, an accused in the widely reported "Honeymoon Murder Case", has been granted bail by a Shillong court on Tuesday after spending nearly 11 months in jail. She had been arrested in connection with the death of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon trip to Meghalaya.
According to the case background, Sonam had filed a bail petition in December 2025. In her plea, she denied any involvement in a conspiracy, stating that she shared a happy married life with Raja and had no motive to harm him. She also rejected allegations of an affair with co-accused Raj Kushwaha, claiming instead that they shared a "brother-sister" bond. Sonam further said she actively participated in wedding preparations and had looked forward to her marriage.
Sonam and Raja were married in May 2025 and soon after travelled for their honeymoon, visiting the Kamakhya Temple in Assam before heading to Shillong, Meghalaya. They were last seen together while trekking in the hills of Shillong.

The couple went missing on May 23, 2025. On June 2, Raja's body was discovered in a gorge, raising suspicions of foul play. Days later, on June 9, Sonam was found at a roadside dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, and subsequently arrested.
