After an incredibly successful first season of HBO hit series 'Big Little Lies', the ladies are gearing up for round 2. And, this time we have veteran actress Meryl Streep joining the ensemble. The first season starred Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley.

Streep's entry into the show has surely raised questions, after all, she will be playing, Perry Wright's (Alexander Skarsgard) mother. It will remain to be seen whether she has arrived to avenge her son's death, but there's no denying her presence will surely add to the drama in the Monterey mom squad.

Shaileen who plays the role of Jane on the show recently spoke about her character at the Deauville Film Festival where she was on hand to receive the Rising Star Award. "My character has a very different storyline which is wonderful, but for many other people it goes deep. It's going to be very emotional but at the same time still be comedic and have those light moments, but it doesn't shy away from the dirty," she said.

Furthermore, Woodley talked about how the show brought to light several taboo topics related to women being made victims of domestic violence. "The drama was rooted in many truths that we shy away from in America. Domestic abuse is not often something that is explored because it's too real and too common and it's easier to keep it quiet than to go too deep into it. And this second season definitely it goes even deeper," said the actress.

From pictures shared by Reese Witherspoon, we get a peek at Shailene's new look in season 2 of the series. She is seen sporting bangs and a longer hairdo as compared to her look from season 1.

Nicole Kidman who plays the role of Celeste also posted a picture on Instagram announcing the end of filming of season 2.

The wait for Big Little Lies season 2 will be just a bit longer as the series will come to HBO only in 2019. But, from the looks of it, seems like it'll be totally worth it!
