Two Saudi policemen were reportedly shot dead on Wednesday, in the latest attack on police officials in the kingdom.

The incident occurred in the eastern part of Saudi Arabia as gunmen fired shots at a police vehicle in Qatif, AFP reported.

Saudi Arabia has witnessed a spate of attacks on police units across the kingdom in recent months.

Earlier this month, gunmen opened fire on a police traffic patrol in Saudi Arabia's Qatif area, in which two Indians were injured.

In September, gunmen attacked a police post in Saudi Arabia's Al-Shamli region, killing two civilians and a policeman.

Earlier this year, two policemen were gunned down in Riyadh by an Isis supporter.
