Director RJ Balaji revealed that Suriya and the producer were shocked and surprised when he roped in Sai Abhayankar to compose music for his highly anticipated movie Karuppu.
RJ Balaji had initially roped in AR Rahman to compose music for Karuppu but could not continue for some unknown reason. The director said, "First, AR Rahman sir was officially announced as the music director for Karuppu, but unfortunately, he could not continue with the film. Then, I suddenly called my friend, who is part of Sai Abhyankkar's team, Think Music Head Santosh."
When he roped in Sai Abhayankar for Karuppu, many were shocked and surprised. RJ Balaji said, "I asked him about Sai Abhyankkar composing music for our film. He was shocked and asked, Really? Then he asked, For which movie? I said, For Suriya sir's Karuppu."
But RJ Balaji is confident of Sai Abhayankar's work. He added, "I strongly believed in Sai Abhyankkar. The producer and Suriya sir were also surprised, but I had strong faith in his energy and talent. Now, he is working on many big films, including #AlluArjun sir's film, and the re-recording work is currently going on."
Karuppu is an action drama film, which features Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles. Besides direction, RJ Balaji has co-written the screenplay with Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, TS Gopi Krishnan and Karan Aravind Kumar. Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the movie has Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy, and Yogi Babu in the supporting cast.
Karuppu would hit the screens after the election. In a recent interview, he had said, "I want to be honest. Karuppu will be very good. Just like the Valimai update, people have been asking for a Karuppu update for the past year. The film will release in the summer, after the elections. Whenever it releases, it will be a movie that can be watched with the whole family. It will entertain all of you."
