A tourist in Dubai has been charged Rs 32 lakhs in traffic fines after he went over the speed limit in a rented Lamborghini Huracan worth Rs 2.5 crores. This hefty amount was racked up in less than four hours.

The tourist was of British nationality and was caught going up to 240 kmph on Sheikh Zayed Road and Qarn Al Sabkha Road when the speed limit on these roads is 120 kmph. The speeding cameras caught him on the busiest roads of Dubai between 2:30 am and 6:00 am. The cameras caught a total of 12 violations.

During the joyride, the British tourist also ended up denting the luxury sports car. The traffic police managed to catch him and confiscated the car. The man had given his passport to the owner of the dealership as a guarantee. However, he may not be able to hold on to the passport for long.

The charges were filed on the owner's name since the Britisher was a visitor to the country. However, the owner of the dealership, Faris Mohammed Iqbal said that he wouldn't pay the fine and expects the British tourist to do so. They haven't claimed the car back yet since they may have to pay the liability.

In Dubai, if a person is caught exceeding the speed limit by 80 kmph, they are fined Dhs 3000 or Rs 56,000 with 23 black points and the vehicle is retained for 60 days.
