Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor recently appeared in Imtiaz Ali's "Tamasha" opposite Deepika Padukone.

Though the film's performance at the box office was average, the actor took away a whopping amount that was actually more than half of what the total collections of the film were then.

"Tamasha" made Rs 52 crore and Ranbir charged Rs 38 crore for the film, according to Bollywood Life.

It seems the average collection of the film didn't affect the bank balance of the actor. Also, the report suggests that Ranbir was paid Rs 30 crore for "Bombay Velvet", which made just about Rs 24 crore at the domestic box office.

It was further reported that the amount charged by Ranbir in "Tamasha" came to limelight when an IT raid was held at the offices of Kwan, the agency that manages the actor's work.

"'Tamasha" hasn't done the kind of business that everyone expected it to do, but it does not pinch the leading man too much. He was paid Rs 38 crores for the part," Bollywood Life quoted DNA.

Ranbir's career graph has been going down since a long time. After "Besharam" flopped at the box office, Ranbir has been finding it difficult to get into the competition in Bollywood.

However, "Tamasha" was expected to be a turning point in his career as it has Deepika as the actress and Imtiaz as the director.

But it seems like this has also not worked out for Ranbir and the film couldn't impress many viewers.

In the film, Ranbir is seen as a nomad who meets Deepika during a trip to Corsica, after which the duo starts exploring the place together, leading to a lot of fun and drama.

"Tamasha", produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, brings the sizzling pair back on screen for the second time after their break-up, the first being the blockbuster movie "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" (2013).

Ranbir will next be seen in Anurag Basu's "Jagga Jasoos" opposite Katrina Kaif and Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.
