Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor's "Tamasha" crossed Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office, but the film had a disappointing first week.

In India, "Tamasha" was released in less number of screens than other big movies. The film also opened to mixed reviews, which affected its box office collection.

The Imtiaz Ali directorial earned Rs 53.46 crore in its first week at the domestic box office.

"#Tamasha Fri 10.94 cr, Sat 13.17 cr, Sun 14.12 cr, Mon 5.07 cr, Tue 4.07 cr, Wed 3.32 cr, Thu 2.77 cr. Total: ₹ 53.46 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"The dwindling biz of #Tamasha illustrates that the film has been liked by a tiny section of audience, while facing rejection otherwise."

"With hi-end plexes yielding maximum returns in Wk 1, much depends on how #Tamasha fares in Wk 2, especially in circuits where it fared well."

"Overall, #Tamasha biz is disappointing in India. Better than #BombayVelvet, #Besharam, #Roy, but similar to #Rockstar, released in 2011," he tweeted.

At the overseas box office, the film made an average box office collection. It minted approximately $4.45 million (Rs 29.66 crore) from the overseas market.

The worldwide box office collection of "Tamasha" now stands at Rs 83.12 crore. "Tamasha" is approaching towards the Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office.

This will be Deepika's second film of the year, after "Piku", to cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office, while it will be Ranbir's first film to do so.
