Every now and then, there is a conversation around the paid PR culture growing in Bollywood. There have been several insiders from the industry who have claimed to have fallen prey to it, and many have also spoken about how it is a very detrimental factor. It can be said that paid PR is slowly becoming the unspoken norm in Bollywood. From perfectly timed interviews to stories that feel more manufactured than organic, the industry's publicity game has changed, and not everyone is comfortable with it. Recently, Rakul Preet Singh too has spoken about it.
In an interview with ZOOM TV, the De De Pyaar De actress opened up on her thoughts about the paid PR culture that is increasingly growing in B-town. She shared how uncomfortable she is with publicity tactics and called out those who believe in these tactics rather than simply working.
She said, "We all have to do a little bit of PR. We have to have a little presence. And there are some people who even go to the extent of bashing other people. I mean, how negative can you be in life? How do you sleep with yourself? My biggest question is that. And I feel like good work, God is there. God will see. Good karma gets back good karma. It gives you rewards. And I come from that school of thought. My mind doesn't naturally run on PR."

Rakul also touched upon the unrelenting pressure actors face to always be camera-ready and visible, especially in an era where paparazzi culture has become impossible to escape. From stepping out for casual errands to public appearances, the expectation to look polished at all times can be exhausting. However, she admitted that she chooses not to overthink being photographed, preferring to stay comfortable and true to herself.
She mentioned, "My mother calls me sometimes, what are you wearing? You got papped in those same jeans fifth time this month. So like people make an effort every time they go out. How are the paps come here? Sometimes you're dressed and sometimes you're not. And it's okay. So, I just feel that don't put so much pressure on yourself."
In terms of work, she was last seen in 'De De Pyaar De 2', which also starred Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan. She will next be seen in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, which will also star Ayushmann Khurrana and Wamiqa Gabbi. Rakul is also going to feature in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, where she will play the role of Surpanakha.
