Director Karthik Subbaraj's Petta starring Rajinikanth, Vijay Sethupathi, Simran, Trisha, has failed to stike a chord with most of the Telugu audience and garnered mixed review and rating from them.

Petta is an action film and Karthik Subbaraj has written the script and dialogues for the movie, which has been produced by Kalanithi Maran under his production banner Sun Pictures. The film has received a U/A certificate from the censor board and it has a runtime of 2 hours 52 minutes.

Petta movie story: Though he works as a hostel warden, there is more to Kaali (Rajinikanth) than meets the eye. Things take an interesting turn when Kaali's path crosses with a group of dreaded gangsters.

Analysis: Petta is a routine commercial film that has nothing to boast about in terms of story. Rajinikanth's vintage look keep you entertained in the first half, but the second half tests your paitience. The lead actors' performances are good and the film has good production values. Action, music, camera work and dialogues are the attactions on the technical front, say the Telugu viewers.
