Shweta Tripathi, best known for her breakout role in 'Mirzapur', has barely taken a breather after completing 'Mirzapur: The Film'. The actor recently wrapped the Mumbai schedule of the movie and moved straight into her next project.
The movie went on floors on December 23 and is being shot in a tight start-to-finish schedule, wrapping by mid-January. Actors Shweta Tripathi, Rahul Mittra, Abhishek Chauhan and Eshan Naqvi along with the entire cast and crew are currently camping in Bhopal for a gruelling filming schedule across multiple locations in the city.
Filmmaker and actor Rahul Mittra, recently seen in Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi's acclaimed courtroom drama Haq is playing a major role as Shweta Tripathi's father in this feature film titled 'Palkon Pe', written and directed by ad filmmaker Niddhish Puuzhakkal, known to bring a psychologist's insight onto visual storytelling.
The father's character is a conflicted figure shaped by patriarchal values and personal dilemmas, and central to the story's emotional core. Other key cast members reportedly include Abhishek Chauhan and Eshan Naqvi.
Palkon Pe is a social commentary on issues pertaining to divorce, gender equality, sexuality and mental health. In a recent interview, Shweta spoke about the transition from one project to another without pause.
She said, "I wrapped up the shoot of Mirzapur: The Film, and almost immediately found myself stepping into a completely new world and a new story. While most people are celebrating the holidays, I am celebrating this phase of my life by doing what I love the most, being on set."
Produced by Tamboo Entertainment and Saleem Javed's Zaria Entertainment, the film is slated for 2026 release.
