Just days after slain al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's mother Alia Ghanem broke her silence on the deadly 9/11 attacks, his son Hamza bin Laden has now made headlines. Hamza has tied the knot with the daughter of Mohammed Atta, the man who was the lead hijacker during the terror attacks of September 2001.

Osama's half-brothers Ahmad and Hassan al-Attas confirmed the news of Hamza's marriage, reports the Guardian. They told the daily that they had heard about the marriage, however, admitted that they are unaware of the whereabouts of the Al Qaeda leader's son. "We're not sure where he is, but it could be Afghanistan," the English daily quoted them as saying.

They further claimed that Hamza has reportedly acquired a senior position with the terror outfit al- Qaeda and added that he might avenge his father's killing in Abbottabad by the US military in May 2011.

Hamza has been pretty vocal about avenging Laden's death and has, in the past, made statements asking followers to wage war on the US, the UK and other nations like France and Israel. Some even see Hamza as a deputy to al Qaeda's incumbent leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. His whereabouts have been a matter of concern for intelligence agencies for the past two years, reports IANS.

Hamza is Osama's son from Khairiah Sabar, one of his three wives, who was also present in Abbottabad at the time of his death. While Osama's second son Khalid was killed with him in Abbottabad, his third son Saad was killed in a drone strike in 2009.

Letters written by 9/11 mastermind had revealed that he was preparing Hamza to replace him as the terror outfit's leader. Osama's wives and children have reportedly moved to Saudi Arabia where they were given refuge by former Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, IANS reported.

They have also stayed in close contact with Osama bin Laden's mother Alia Ghanem who admitted the same in a recent interview to the Guardian.
