Oppo is going to launch a new smartphone in India soon joining the company's popular F-series. Shortly after announcing the flagship Find X smartphone in the country, the company's official Twitter handle tweeted a teaser pointing towards the imminent launch of Oppo F9 Pro.

Oppo has officially addressed the F9-series without indulging in the details about the phone. In a brief 7-second video, Oppo simply says "The breaking new vision" and "F9 Pro is coming," which is more than enough to confirm the arrival of Oppo F7-successor.

The backdrop on the teaser also drops some major hints. For instance, there's an outline of a smartphone with a tiny cut-out at the top, which clearly suggests a smaller notch to accommodate a front-facing camera and proximity sensor.

It is natural that the F9 Pro will boast a bezel-less display with a possible 19:10 aspect ratio since it looks a lot like the Essential smartphone. The entire teaser is shown in an underwater setup, which could mean that the F9 Pro will pack waterproof design with an IP67 rating.

That said, Oppo Malaysia on Sunday tweeted a photo confirming that the company is going to launch Oppo F9 in the country soon. The company said the Oppo F9 will feature a new "waterdrop screen" to offer a "breaking new vision experience." In both cases, it's not clear when exactly the launch is going to happen for Oppo F9 and F9 Pro in respective countries.

Malaysian blog SoyaCincau suggested that the F9 smartphone could have a screen-to-body ratio of 90.8 percent and its launch is due to happen sometime in August. We can expect the F9 Pro to arrive in India around the same time.

This is not the first time we are hearing about Oppo F9 series. Recently, both phones received Bluetooth certification, where it was revealed that the F9 and F9 Pro would be powered by MediaTek Helio P60. The company had teased the F9 series earlier, where it showed horizontally-stacked dual cameras with LED flash at the top right-hand corner of the device.

Considering the Oppo F7 came with a single camera at the back, this could be seen as a major upgrade for mobile photography enthusiasts.

The difference between the F9 and F9 Pro is likely to be in the RAM and storage department. While the F9 could get 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, the Pro variant could offer 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Seeing the company is teasing the F9 Pro in India and not the F9, Oppo seems to be targeting the premium segment.

Oppo Find X was recently launched at Rs 59,990 – its most expensive smartphone in India. The flagship smartphone is going to hit the stores on August 3, which will tell how well the company's bet has paid off. Stay tuned for updates.
