We are just a few hours away from witnessing the official OnePlus 2 unveiling. The company has already revealed several key features of the upcoming smartphone inciting excitement among fans.

OnePlus has even went on record to give a statement that OnePlus 2 will be the 2016 flagship-killer.

To provide a better perspective on the upcoming OnePlus One successor, we have leafed through multiple reports and lined up key features that are expected to make the cut.

Display & Build:

Early in the month, several blueprints of the alleged OnePlus 2 surfaced online indicating the upcoming device may boasts metal chassis, but back then we could not vouch those reports due to their authenticity.

But things got a little interesting when OnePlus founder & CEO Liu Zuohu, on his official Weibo account, asked fans, "How to define full metal?" and this apparently sparked off speculations that the upcoming OnePlus 2 may come with a metal shell.

OnePlus is still quite over rumours despite revealing several other features of the device. It looks like the company is reserving something to announce on the official launch day.

In 2014, OnePlus One came with 5.5-inch full HD (1,920x1,440p) screen and many are expecting the company to bump the display resolution in its successor to QHD (2,560x1,440p). This aspect of the display is more likely to happen as 2K standard has become a norm.

Processor, RAM and Storage:

OnePlus 2 is confirmed to run on the new Snapdragon 810 v2.1 series SoC (System on Chip). It is free of over-heating issues, which were reported in Sony Xperia Z4 and HTC One M9.

The company has incorporated a new generation LPDDR 4 series 4GB RAM in the upcoming phone.

OnePlus 2 is expected to come in 16GB and 64GB memory options similar to its predecessor.

Mobile Operating System:

OnePlus 2 will run on the proprietary community developed HydrongenOS (in China)/ OxygenOS (in global markets). Both will be based on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware.

Camera features:

Early this month, the company while replying to a fan on Reddit's AMAA (Ask Me Almost Anything) forum said OnePlus 2 camera features stand apart from the current crop of flagship smartphones.

It has been learnt that OnePlus 2 will feature a 13mp camera with f/2.0 aperture similar to its predecessor, but the image processing will be much better, thanks to laser-guided auto-focus. And on the front, it is said to house a 5mp snapper on the front.

Value added features:

The company has confirmed that OnePlus 2 will boast the advanced finger-print sensor, which is said to be more secured and faster than Touch ID system seen in the latest Apple iPhones.

OnePlus is the first flagship smartphone to boast latest Type C USB connector, which can be plugged to any device and also users need not even worry of orienting the port while plugging the device as its works reverse as well.

It is also said to come with dual-SIM slots and NFC (Near Field Communication).

OnePlus 2 Release date details:

OnePlus 2 is confirmed to get unveiled on 27 July, but there is no word on when it will be released. But if history is taken as any indication, then one can expect the new phone to on sale on the very same day.

The company has even confirmed that OnePlus 2 will be sold via invite system similar to last year, but it will be more streamlined this time. OnePlus has claimed the company has learned lessons from the shortcomings of previous year's retail system.

OnePlus 2 production is in full swing to stock up the inventory before the official launch and the invites will be offered 30-50 times faster than 2014.

That's not all; OnePlus is also introducing 'reservation list' system for those who don't have patience to wait for invites.

OnePlus 2 Price:

After company released series of updates on OnePlus 2 features, many tech pundits and fans feared that the device's top-notch spec-list may lead to an expensive price tag.

Taking note of the public debate on various online platforms, OnePlus decided to put all rumours to rest by revealing that the upcoming device will cost less than $450 (> €415/₹28,560).

Many might still feel that $450 price tag is steep compared to its predecessor, which costs $349 for 64GB model. But considering the advanced bio-metric security feature like finger-print sensor, laser auto-focus, Snapdragon 810 v2.1 CPU, it's still a bargain compared to its over-hyped rivals like Apple iPhone 6 (& 6 Plus), HTC One M9 and Samsung Galaxy S6 (& S6 Plus).
