The rumoured OnePlus 2 will finally see the light of day next month.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei confirmed on Thursday (25 June) that the company's 2015 flagship smartphone, OnePlus 2, will be unveiled on 27 July at 7:00 pm PT ( 28 July at 7:30 am IST).

He also added that company would begin to sell affordable VR (Virtual Reality) sets made of cardboard to fans to provide a sense of being in the launch event live without having to leave their home.

"In our industry, product launches tend to be the same. An auditorium, a keynote, and a seated audience. For the OnePlus 2 launch, we didn't want that barrier between us and you; we want to invite you into our world, because you're a major part of it. That is why we will be unveiling the OnePlus 2 to the world completely in VR," said Pei.

As of now, the company has not yet revealed the price and availability details of VR set. We will update on this as and when it develops.[More information on OnePlus VR set, HERE]

Expected Features of OnePlus 2:

As per numerous reports, OnePlus 2 is expected to keep 5.5-inch screen size, but there will be bump in resolution. It is said to sport QHD (2560x1440p) display .

Under the hood, it was believed that OnePlus 2 would come with the Snapdragon 810 SoC (System on Chip), the processor that has been in the news for all wrong reasons and dented Sony and HTC's image for incorporating it in their flagship smartphones Xperia Z3 Plus (aka Z4) and HTC One M9.

Both devices which hit stores few months ago have received complaints from the users that their devices are getting over-heated during extended usage like playing games or taking high-resolution videos.

This is why Samsung dumped Snapdragon in its Galaxy S6 (& S6 Edge) and instead went with its own proprietary Exynos 7 series processor.

Many believed OnePlus 2 will meet similar fate as Sony and HTC devices, but a few days ago, the company confirmed that One's successor will come with new Snapdragon 810 v2.0 cleared of all issues seen on the first version, inciting cheers from the fans.

Other stipulated features include 4GB RAM, 64GB (expandable), 3,300mAh battery, 16mp camera on the rear-side and a 5mp snapper on the front.

And it has been learnt that the company will be using metal, instead of polycarbonate to cover the rear side to make the new phone look premium like tier-1 brand rivals Samsung, Apple and HTC.

With top-of-the-line hardware feature inside the body, OnePlus Two is rumoured to come with affordable price tag of ¥2499 (around $403/€369/₹25,752).

If the specifications and budget-friendly price tag of OnePlus 2 turns out to be true, then there is no doubt that the Chinese company will once again create waves across the global smartphone market, like it did with the first generation One.
