For nearly a-year-and-half, Nintendo teased players with Nintendo NX, the codename for Nintendo's newest console, Switch.

Due to the unavailability of any official information, rumours about the console were regularly doing the rounds. However now all the rumours have been put to rest after an announcement on NX.

Nintendo released a three-minute preview trailer that revealed several details of the console.

Nintendo Switch as the rumours had noted is both a home console like Wii U and a portable console like Nintendo DS. The new console has bright high-definition display. It is powered by a custom NVIDIA Tegra processor,

Nintendo Switch contains a console and a Switch Dock.

Nintendo Switch includes a tiny controller (Joy-Con Left and Joy-Con Right). Players will be able to remove the right and left sides of the controller from their base and attach it to the standalone display. The tiny controllers can be attached to Joy-Con Grip and used on the go.

Users can slide out the standalone display from the home console base and make it portable. It also has a kickstand in case users do not want to hold it.

The standalone display has a headphone jack and next to it is a slot for "game card," which will allow users to insert physical game cartridges.

The standalone display is able to support multiple players with split screen arrangement.

Games will resume from where the user had stopped when switching from Home mode to Portable mode.

It will also feature the traditional Pro Controller, for players who do not want to use the tiny Joy-Con controllers.

The trailer reveals Nintendo Switch would get the new Zelda game, Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The console will also be getting a new Mario platformer, Splatoon, NBA 2K17, Mario Kart and a Bethesda game (most probably Skyrim).

Nintendo Switch is expected to be released in March 2017.
