Nandamuri Janakiram, son of former MP Harikrishna and brother of actor Kalyan Ram, passed away in a fatal car accident on Saturday, 6 December.

Janakikram was reportedly driving from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and the accident occurred in Akupamula village near Mungala Mandal in Nalgonda district on Saturday evening. The Tata Safari car, driven by Janakiram, rammed into a tractor on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway causing serious internal injuries to his body.

Locals arrived on the spot and informed the cops and the emergency services. Janakiram was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

"He was driving towards Vijayawada when his vehicle rammed into the tractor.The tractor was crossing the road to take a village road from the highway, and the car hit the right side of the tractor. His chest and abdomen must have hit the steering wheel or other solid parts of the vehicle causing serious internal injuries. His arms were also severely damaged," Suryapet DSP M.A. Rasheed was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.

According to reports, the tractor was reportedly coming from the wrong direction. The driver fled the area before the locals reached the spot. The police have registered a case against the tractor driver and have launched a manhunt to nab him.

Janakiram is a Telugu film producer and has produced the hit flick "Athanokkade" under NTR Arts banner. He is survived by his wife and son.

Meanwhile, celebrities and politicians have expressed condolences over the actor's death.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao and minister Jagadishwar Reddy expressed shock over the untimely death of Janakiram.

Dr K. Hari Babu, MP: "Condolences to family of Sri Nandamuri Harikrishna on untimely demise of Sri Janakiram. May God give them strength to cope this loss."
