After a short break, Malayalam director B Unnikrishnan will be helming a project that stars superstar Mohanlal in the lead role. The Grandmaster director announced the news on his comeback to filmmaking via his official Facebook page on Tuesday, December 6.
The upcoming movie, which will be the fourth project Unnikrishnan will be associating with Mohanlal. The big-budget film will start rolling on January 20 and is expected to hit the screens in May. It will be bankrolled by Aashirwad Cinemas in association with Maxlab, and other details on the plot as well as the cast and crew will be revealed in the coming days.
"After a short break, I am directing a movie with Mohanlal. This is my fourth movie with him that is made on a big-budget. It took us two and a half years to complete the scripting of the film, which will be released in May by Aashirwad Cinemas in association with Maxlab. The movie will go on floors on January 20. More details will be revealed soon [translated from Malayalam]," the director posted on his social media page.
Earlier, Unnikrishnan had helmed Mohanlal-starring movies Madampi (2008), Grandmaster (2012) and Mr Fraud (2014), which opened to mixed response from audience. Nayakan is expected to do wonder as Mohanlal is currently basking in the success of his hat-trick blockbusters -- Janatha Garage, Oppam and Pulimurugan. The success of the films has raised his career graph and made him the king of the Kerala box office in 2016.
The superstar is also awaiting the release of Jibu Jacob directed family entertainer Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol, which is scheduled to hit the screens as a Christmas release. Mohanlal is presently busy with the shooting of Major Ravi's 1971 - Beyond Borders, which also stars Allu Sirish in main role.
