Following the huge success of its ultra affordable smartphone Canvas Spark, Micromax launched its successor Canvas Spark 2 on Monday.
Canvas Spark 2 smartphone will be available exclusively through Snapdeal in India. Priced at only Rs 3,999, this Micromax device boasts a 5-inch FWVGA IPS display with 480x854 pixels resolution.
Micromax Canvas Spark 2 will come powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor backed with 4GB built-in storage expandable up to 32GB. It will also sport a 5MP rear camera sensor and a 2MP front snapper for clicking selfie images.
Canvas Spark also packs an 1,800mAh battery with a claimed battery life of 324 hours on standby mode and comes with a Google certification and 3G connectivity along with necessary connectivity features like Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi.
Running on the latest Android Lollipop 5.1, it is one of the most affordable 3G enabled devices.
Commenting on the launch, Micromax CEO Vineet Taneja said, "The Canvas Spark proved to be a huge success for Micromax, selling over half a million units in less than two months of its launch. With the Canvas Spark 2, we are yet again reaffirming our commitment to massify the smartphone and Internet usage in the country."
"Currently, smartphone penetration stands at 12% in the country and 3G adoption is also barely 10%, which presents a huge opportunity to upgrade. We believe that the e-commerce channel is also expanding and the 3-4K category will be the next frontier," he added.
The phone comes with accessories such as charger, data cable, earphones and screen protector.
Micromax Canvas Spark 2 is available in Black colour on Snapdeal through flash sales and registrations will begin at 10 am on September 23, while the first sale will begin at 12 noon on September 30.
