Manchester United are reportedly considering a summer move for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain following reports of them looking to offload Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie after the end of the season.

With his phenomenal scoring record at Porto and Atletico Madrid, everyone expect Falcao to be an instant hit in England as soon as his £6 million loan move from AS Monaco to United was announced on the transfer deadline day last summer.

However, the Colombian has proved to be a big flop this season, scoring only four goals in 23 appearances in all competitions, and United are unlikely to take up the option to sign him permanently for £43.5 million.

The Red Devils are also reportedly looking to offload their other striker Robin van Persie due to the Dutchman not being in good form for the last two seasons.

Due to this reason, United are reportedly weighing a move for Napoli striker Higuain this summer.

According to the Metro, United scouts kept a close eye on the former Real Madrid man during Napoli's narrow 1-0 defeat to Lazio in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia on 8 April.

Higuain would be a good signing for Manchester United as the striker has been in good form since his €40 million switch from Real Madrid in 2013, scoring 46 goals in 87 appearances for Napoli in all competitions so far.

Meanwhile, the Reds Devils are also reportedly keeping tabs on Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, whose contract talks with the Serie A side seems to have reached a stalemate.

The Argentine, who has been in good form scoring 15 goals in 27 Serie A games for the Nerazzurri this season, has been in discussions with Inter Milan from almost the beginning of the season, but he has still not been able to reach a conclusion yet.

Although the 22-year-old still has three years remaining on his current contract, Inter are looking to offer him a new deal so they can discourage interests from other clubs.

However, that hasn't happened yet and United, who have reportedly sent scouts to watch the Argentine in action this weekend, are looking to prize the youngster from the San Siro this summer.

However, United will be securing the signature of Icardi easily as Manchester City and Chelsea are also believed to be interested in landing the Argentine this summer.
