Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has received a massive boost regarding injuries ahead of the big English Premier League game against Arsenal, with David De Gea, the undisputed number one goalkeeper at the club, set to be fit for the clash on Saturday.
However, there was a blow for Manchester United on "De Gea good news day" as well, with Angel Di Maria suffering an injury during the international friendly between Argentina and Portugal at Old Trafford.
De Gea dislocated his finger in training with Spain last Friday, and it was believed the goalkeeper would definitely miss the match against Arsenal.
However, according to the Daily Mail, citing sources in the Spain camp, De Gea now has an "80 percent chance" of being declared fit for the Premier League clash against the Gunners at the Emirates.
De Gea has been an everpresent for Manchester United this season, playing in every game, and playing incredibly well.
Even if Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Victor Valdes on a free transfer, losing De Gea for the game against Arsenal would have been a big blow, and Van Gaal will be happy to see the Spain international goalkeeper recover so well from the injury.
De Gea stayed with the Spain team, despite suffering the injury last week, which again shows the injury might not have been as bad as feared, and the goalkeeper will be assessed by Manchester United's doctors upon arrival.
While De Gea has given Van Gaal an injury boost, the Dutchman will be fearing the worst again, after Di Maria went down under a rash challenge from, ironically, another Manchester United player – Nani, who is currently on loan at Sporting Lisbon.
Di Maria looked in pain after being stamped on by Nani in the 18th minute of the friendly, but the Argentina bench asked him to carry on, with the midfielder only substituted in the 60th minute for Carlos Tevez.
Argentina manager Gerardo Martino called the Di Maria injury a "tough knock" but remains confident it is nothing serious.
"It cut the skin a little bit, it was a tough knock," said Martino. "We have had a look at it though and we don't think it is anything serious.
"We took an X-ray and looked at the images and we are evaluating it. But in spite of that, we do not think it is serious."
Di Maria also confirmed the injury was nothing to worry about, and remains confident he will be fit and ready for Arsenal match.
"It was just a blow," he said. "I hope it doesn't swell anymore so I can play at the weekend."
Van Gaal currently has a whole host of injury issues, with Michael Carrick, after only returning recently, suffering a groin injury, adding to the list which already includes Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Marcos Rojo, Rafael, Daley Blind, who also suffered a problem on international duty, Ashley Young, Radamel Falcao and Jesse Lingard.
