Megastar Mammootty joined the sets of debutant Nithin Renji Panicker's untitled upcoming Malayalam movie in Bangalore on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
A photo of Mammootty in police uniform and boasting a moustache has been leaked on social media. Even until a few days ago, Mammootty was spotted in this new avatar to celebrate 125 days of his blockbuster "Pathemari."
Nithin, who has assisted his father Renji Panicker and director Shaji Kailas in many movies, had earlier revealed that his debut directorial venture will be an action flick, but not similar to his father's classic action thrillers with fiery dialogues. "I love my father's scripts, but I don't think I can write the way he does. I have my own style. Yes, my dad is my inspiration. In fact, it was his films, especially hit films of Shaji Kailas scripted by my dad that instilled in me dreams of venturing into direction," Nithin had earlier told the Times of India.
Through the upcoming movie, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar makes her debut in Malayalam opposite the megastar and the actress had also posted a photo with Nithin from the location, announcing about her association with Mammootty. "Started my first Malayalam film..gettin to act with the legend himself Mamooty sir..thanks to my Dir Nithin panickar," Varalaxmi posted on her Twitter handle. The actress' character is expected to showcase some negative shades and the untitled flick is also said to have Tamil actor Sampath in a pivotal role.
Currently, Mammootty is also basking in the success of AK Sajan's crime thriller "Puthiya Niyamam" that has been garnering astounding response from movie-goers in India and abroad since its release on Feb. 12. The movie, which also stars Nayantara, is set to become the first blockbuster of the megastar in 2016 after Salim Ahamed's "Pathemari" in 2015.
