At least 18 vehicles were set on fire after violence broke out at Seafield Sri Mahamariamman Temple in Malaysia over the relocation of the temple on Monday, November 26.

It is alleged that the brawl took place over a disagreement on the relocation of the temple from USJ25 to another site in USJ23 - three kilometres away from its present location.

The devotees of the Seafield Sri Mahamariamman Temple had resisted the relocation on November 22.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor said he was going there to oversee the situation. "Police personnel are already at the site to maintain order and the safety of the public...I am also going there to see the situation for myself," he said when contacted, reported The Star Online.

Several videos have been circulated on the internet showing people setting vehicles on fire and cheering. Many pictures and videos of the firemen have also gone viral where they can be seen trying to douse the vehicles on fire.
