Classics Entertainment, which acquired its overseas distribution rights, released "Brahmotsavam" in over 200 cinema halls across the U.S. on May 20. The movie premiered in several locations in the country on Thursday night. It received superb response in the paid previews at all the centres.

"Brahmotsavam" collected $556,661 at the U.S. box office in the preview shows. The movie shattered the records of "Srimanthudu" and "Aagadu" and became the biggest opener for Mahesh Babu in the country, where Prince is the most popular Telugu actor. It emerged the second-biggest Tollywood opener in the country after Pawan Kalyan's "Sardaar Gabbar Singh."

The Srikanth Addala-directed family drama film received mixed talk from the audience in the country and trade experts predicted that the word of mouth would affect collections on the opening day. As predicted, "Brahmotsavam" began on a dull note and made poor collection at the U.S. box office on the first day.

"Brahmotsavam" collected $797,037 [Rs. 5.37 crore] at the U.S. box office on Thursday night and Friday together. Taran Adarsh tweeted: "Telugu film #Brahmotsavam debuts at No. 10 on USA charts ... Thu pre $ 556,661, Fri $ 240,376. Total: $ 797,037 [₹ 5.37 cr]. @Rentrak. [sic]"

The film needed to collect $202,963 to surpass the $1-million mark at the U.S box office. The makers are yet to reveal the Saturday collection of "Brahmotsavam," but if we are to go by the early trends, the movie has done decent business and crossed the mark. It has become the sixth film of Mahesh to achieve this feat.

"Srimanthudu" has collected $2.88 million at the U.S. and become the highest grosser for Mahesh Babu in the country. It had raked in $1.75 million in the previews and first day. Taran Adarsh had tweeted on Aug. 9, 2015: "Telugu film #Srimanthudu embarks on an IMPRESSIVE start in USA. Thu previews + Fri + Sat: $1,753,698 [₹ 11.18 cr]. WOW! [sic]" The performance of "Brahmotsavam" is not even half of it.
