
Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu said that he trained for six months to modify his walking and running style for the role in director SS Rajamouli's upcoming movie Varanasi.
SS Rajamouli recently announced that Varanasi is scheduled for worldwide release on April 7, 2026. According to the reports, the team has completed shooting of 150 days. Now, they are busy wrapping up its filming. Amidst this, the team has also started give interview to media as a part of its promotion. In an interview, Mahesh Babu spilled the beans about his role in the movie.
Talking about his association with the director, Mahesh Babu said, "This collaboration has been 15 years in the making. When I first met SS Rajamouli. we agreed to do a film, but he had two prior commitments to finish first. Since then, he completed both parts of Baahubali and RRR, and we dealt with the delays of the pandemic. After a decade and a half of waiting, we are finally working together."
He continued, "It's amazing SS Rajamouli kept his commitment. What excited me was when he finally finished 'RRR' and he stuck to his commitment and then he called me and he said 'I'm finished with the story and I want to narrate it'. I went to his office and heard the narration... and it blew my mind."

Mahesh Babu was nervous after hearing the story. He said, "I was really excited. I remember I went home, spoke with my wife and it was intimidating because the kind of film he was trying to attempt. I was a bit nervous! But the more I kept meeting him, he kind of eased me into the process and now I'm really enjoying myself."
The Prince is essaying the role of Lord Rama and he has trained for six months for it. Mahesh Babu said, "I'm playing Lord Rama's character, it required posture. I trained for 6 months to modify my running, walking, posture style "When I saw the shot, I was really happy. It was all worth it."
Mahesh Babu is anxious about the audience's expectations after the release of Varanasi. He said, "Pokiri is a film that changed everything for me. It made me a star. It's a huge hit in 2006. I didn't know what to do after that as the audience's expectations reached the next level. I'm experiencing the same with Varanasi now."
