Chennai Super King's latest additon, Irfan Pathan, is keen on finding a place in the India squad on the back of an impressive IPL season. He feels that it is a big opportunity for him to play under MS Dhoni and he is confident of making the most out of it.

The talented all-rounder is training with his new CSK side in Chennai, and says he is ready to take up any role for his IPL franchise in order to come back into the reckoning for an India place.

"Obviously, the dream is to play for the country again but at the same time, I should make sure that I go there step by step and that is what I am doing," Pathan told the IPL's official website.

CSK have been one of the most consistent sides in the IPL and they have a few world class all-rounders in the form of Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja. Pathan will have to prove his worth and contribute in the best way possible, so that Dhoni leanrs to trust his new teammate's skills.

"I have had a discussion with [CSK coach] Stephen Fleming and he gave me an idea as to the kind of role he wants me to play," added Pathan.

"I am feeling very confident. It is just a matter of what Dhoni thinks in terms of how he is going to utlise me and how the team wants me to play.

"I think with the experience that I have I can fit in any role. I just have to be ready mentally."

After Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad, CSK will be Pathan's fourth IPL side. He will not have too many issues with settling down in a new environment as he knows most of the players in the side.

He also expressed his delight at playing under Dhoni. "Obviously, it is a new team for me but there are a lot of guys in the team that I know very well," said the 30-year-old. "Compared to other teams, CSK have a pretty relaxed atmosphere."

CSK open their IPL campaign against Pathan's former team -- Delhi Daredevils -- on Thursday in Chennai.
