With the end of the Indian Premier League and Lok Sabha elections, an array of interesting films starring superstars of Bollywood will hit screens starting with Akhsay Kumar's "Holiday – A Soldier is Never Off Duty".

This year, the box office witnessed a dull period with only two films crossing the 100 crore mark. So the expectations are riding high from the upcoming films releasing in June, especially "Holiday" as it features a big star.

After Salman Khan starrer "Jai Ho", Kumar's "Holiday" is the second film of this year that features a superstar. "Holiday" also has the second highest number of screen count, till now, after "Jai Ho". And hence expectations are riding high on Kumar's "Holiday".

The film is expected to have a bumper start at the domestic box office and break previous records. Since "Jai Ho" holds the record of biggest opener of 2014, "Holiday" is expected to beat that mark.

"Holiday" is an action drama featuring Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. In 2012, Kumar and Sinha starrer "Rowdy Rathore" was released in May, just after the IPL. The film became a blockbuster hit and Sinha-Kumar's chemistry were much appreciated.

Critics now expect "Holiday" to create the same magic at the box office. The film has already started on a very good note in UAE-GCC market. In India also, the film has received good response from critics. [Read the reviews here]

The buzz surrounding the film is also positive; the songs are hit and the trailer too has received good response.

Overall, the film is expected to have 80 to 90 percent occupancy on day one in India. Even if it opens with occupancy of 60 percent, the film will fetch a good start. But it remain to be seen whether it will beat "Jai Ho" opening day record.
