The much-hyped film at the domestic box office earned ₹39.6 crore in five days of its release. Considering that the film is a remake of the old blockbuster with the same name featuring Jeetendra and Sridevi created huge curiosity among movie buffs. But its business dropped on the second day of its release.

"Chashme Baddoor" features Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Taapsee Pannu and Divyendu Sharma in lead roles.

The 1981 film featuring Farooq Shaikh, Deepti Naval, Rakesh Bedi, Ravi Baswani and Saeed Jaffrey was a silver jubilee hit. It is still considered as one of the favourite classic comedy films of all time.

"Chashme Baddoor" which is an adult comedy and the buzz is quite strong for the new version. Also, the film is directed by David Dhawan, who has given hit films like "Raja Babu", "Coolie No. 1", "Judwaa", "Biwi No.1" and many more. David Dhawan himself has a huge fan following which might prove helpful for his film.

Though most critics have rated the film as poor, some of them have praised the film saying "Dum hai, Boss!"

There are huge expectations from the upcoming film and many hope that it won't follow the path of "Himmatwala" at the box office.
