Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi day 1 box office collection: Sonakshi Sinha's film makes a poor start

Sonakshi Sinha's latest release Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi witnessed a very poor first day box office collection. 

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is a sequel of Diana Penty's Happy Bhag Jayegi. It has an ensemble cast of Sonakshi, Jimmy Sheirgill, Jassi Gill and Piyush Mishra. Diana and Ali Fazal has an extended cameo in it.

With not so positive reviews from the critics, the movie started its box office journey on a very average note. Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi witnessed poor occupancy on its first day. Lack of enough buzz around the film is being considered as one of the reasons behind the poor day 1 performance.

Also, the film lacks star power, and Sonakshi's recent box office track has not been an impressive one. Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi collected around Rs 2.32 crore at the domestic market on the first day.

"#HappyPhirrBhagJayegi has a slow start on Day 1... Fared better in North... Needs to witness substantial growth over the weekend + maintain a strong trend on weekdays to leave a mark... Fri ₹ 2.70 cr. India biz... First part had collected ₹ 2.32 cr on Day 1. [sic]," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The stronghold of Gold and Satyameva Jayate at the box office can also be a reason for Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi's poor start. While the original movie of the franchise was a decent hit, it looks like the sequel will find it hard to even recover its cost of production.
